Roads

Each time a well is fracked, 3 to 5 million gallons of water are injected into the borehole. All of this has to be brought in by truck. But that’s not all – much of that water comes back to the surface. This contaminated flow back water also has to be trucked out.

Our research into the number of truck movements required has involved direct communication with the companies which supply the trucks. We believe that the number of truck movements would cause very significant disturbance on our narrow wolds roads, and of course for anyone who lives along the route.

The figures below do not include all the additional truck movements that would be needed to bring in other equipment to set up the site, the sand and chemicals used – this is just for the water.
